You're right and you can't forget that he's risking his life to bring us this news. It's a look into a troubled country that U.S. news services don't have access to.

sadly we are not able to get more coverage about what is happening in Iran either..not that we cant just that our own state is in turmoil..and honestly if there was any news i am not one to watch any...so i decide to keep a watch out for what Azad has to say...i shall ask him if his name is Azad or not since it means freedom atleast in Urdu

If Azad's name is freedom for real it would be pretty ironic, wouldn't it?

Great features my friend and I'm anxious to comment on my favorites among them. It's also nice to see at least one of my friends in all the works you've featured so far. :)

Expanding my circle of artist friends was exactly MY intent when I joined here. I have no dealings with artists in my home town, nor to I want any. People here are too conservative and conventional in their thinking. There is only one other surrealist in my town and even he isn't as adventurous as I. :)

same goes for the people here the vision especially when talking about art is rather limited and for me to be able to interact with artist here who may understand will mean going to the professionals which isnt an easy task either

I think the original surrealists were a pretty diverse group and they came from various countries as well. It seems the only way to get around the "garden-variety" type art. :)

i agree but i just find one thing negative about surrealism that although it was a movement than a form of art(i will only comment on behalf of its art section)
the surrealist are setting standards and structure which it is not at all about..there are many ways of surrealist thinking in the visual art but i see many are not willing to expand them they maybe be diverse enough and move to dadaism but even then i dont see new and innovative expression of the subconscious.. this is a rather hard thing for me to explain and is extremely subjective. not only that i should not be making such bold statements when i am only aware of merely its basics but please do correct me if i am wrong

No, I know exactly what you are saying and surrealism DOES encompass many, many different facets of art. You're right that it's most prevalent in the visual arts, but it exists elsewhere as well.

The exquisite corpse, for instance, was initially a game devised by writers. Of course, visual artists saw the opportunity and ran with it, much to the continued expansion of surrealism. Music also has its surrealists and Stravinsky was a very surreal composer - even Jimi Hendrix can take credit for being the first surreal guitarist.

With classical (visual) surrealism people often get too tied up in the "message" (not every dream has a meaning) and you often see the amateur psychoanalysts come out in an attempt to label you somehow.

The two genres I particularly like are socio-political surrealism (it's THE BEST way to make a point about a politician or a regime) or dark surrealism (which is often categorized as horror, but not necessarily so).

this makes my day better i was aware of some of the things you have mentioned... but did not know about the EC being a writers game..and i completely agree about dark surrealism... i think its time for me to redefine surrealism for myself to better understand
