Sensuality

I've watched my friend, Jahanzeb grow as an artist by leaps and bounds and I believe this is a good indication of his natural talent.

He's primary interest is surrealism and I find that most of his works fall easily within that genre. His skill with graphite has grown enormously in the short time I've known him and this particular work is the most impressive I've seen to date.

I particularly love the notion of the expanded vision through the "third eye" which is seen my many different cultures as a mystical point on the human body. The figures rising from this point are quite flame-like (and appear as flames within a larger flame) and culminate at the droplet image at the top center of the page.

I'm particularly interested in the wonderfully textured background which could easily be interpreted as either more droplets, or a crowd of people. Perhaps they are onlookers into this very surreal image being revealed to them as well as the viewer. The anatomy of the neck as well as the gentle flowing curves of the hair all work toward making this a very complex (and surreal) composition.
